The celebrations for the Espada’s fiftieth anniversary continue with exceptional events. Following the tour taken on the most fascinating roads of Italy, it is now London’s turn, where the masterpiece from Sant’Agata Bolognese has made its appearance on Abbey Road and at the Royal Automobile Club, two of the most iconic places in the world.

While the Espada made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1968, in Abbey Studios, at number 3 Abbey Road in London, the undisputed European capital of the trends of that period, the Beatles were recording songs that made history. In fact, it was 26th August 1968 when the Fab Four launched one of their most iconic songs: “Hey Jude”. The following year “Abbey Road” was released, the latest studio album recorded by the Beatles that featured the famous cover showing George, Paul, Ringo, and John crossing the street on the pedestrian crosswalk situated right in front of the recording studios. 
Now fifty years later, with the myth of the Beatles and their vibrant Swinging London still alive, also the Espada from the Lamborghini Museum got to “cross” that same pedestrian crosswalk accompanied by a unique soundtrack: its 4-liter V12 delivering 340 horsepower.

Espada’s London journey concluded at the cradle of English motoring: the historic home of the Royal Automobile Club (RAC) in elegant Art Déco hosted the gala dinner to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the car, parked for the occasion in the Rotunda, the hall of the Club where the most important automobiles in history have been displayed.
The evening took place in the presence of more than a hundred guests and two guests of honor, Paolo Gabrielli, Head of After Sales of Automobili Lamborghini, the department that also includes Polo Storico, and Francesco Stevanin, Technical Manager of Polo Storico, introduced by Peter Read, Chairman of the RAC.

The Espada is one of the most successful models in the history of Lamborghini. With 1226 cars produced over the course of 10 years of production, an incredibly innovative line for the era and still today very modern and current, it is the result of a design by Marcello Gandini for Carrozzeria Bertone. The Espada was produced in 3 series, the Series I (up to January 1970) in 176 units, the Series II (up to 1972) in 578 units, and the final Series III (up to 1978) in 472 units.
