Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America 2026 Monterey Recap

MONTEREY, Calif. – Wayne Taylor Racing and XONINE Racing headlined the winners at the second race weekend, Rounds 3 and 4, of the 2026 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America season from picturesque Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Race Recaps

Pro

Race 1: After Dennis Lind (No. 29 TR3 Racing) and Hampus Ericsson (No. 1 Wayne Taylor Racing) handed off their cars to Elias De La Torre and Nick Persing, respectively, things got fun. Inadvertent contact between Persing and De La Torre pitched De La Torre into a spin. While Persing was assessed a 10-second time penalty post-race, it forced him to need to build a gap as an offset. He built over 1.5 seconds per lap in the final six laps to keep the win, with the De La Torre/Lind car second and Tommi Gore and Nico Jamin third in the No. 4 ANSA Motorsports entry.

Race 2: From the lead, De La Torre pulled off driver’s left at pit exit with a mechanical issue that took the championship-leading car out of action. Trinka had been running third overall, second in Pro, after climbing from fifth in Pro and seventh overall on the grid. When Bamber emerged ahead of the remainder of the field once the cycle completed, he maintained the gap for the rest of the race before it finished under caution. The No. 4 ANSA Motorsports Huracán of Tommi Gore and Nico Jamin banked its second podium of the weekend with the No. 7 Wayne Taylor Racing Huracán of James Wallis and Al Morey IV on the podium for the first time this year in third.

ProAm

Race 1: Danny Formal got ahead of Joel Miller for the ProAm lead shortly after the initial start, a key move in the class before he handed off his No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing, Lamborghini Palm Beach, Huracán to Graham Doyle. That move proved pivotal to the duo’s third win in as many races to start the season. Doyle took the flag by 15.259 seconds over teammates Marc Miller and Paul Nemschoff in the No. 41 WTR Huracán. TR3’s Mateo Siderman and Martin Fuentes scored their first 2026 podium in their No. 63 Huracán.

Race 2: Success for Doyle and Formal in Race 2 came at the expense of their WTR teammates, as overall polesitter Marc Miller banked a lead nearing 20 seconds that was erased when the full-course caution flew. Once Formal passed Paul Nemschoff on a restart, there was no looking back. As they were in Sebring, the No. 77 Forty7 Motorsports Huracán of Lindsay Brewer and Keawn Tandon were second ahead of the No. 44 Kaizen Autosport Huracán of Seth Henry and Wyatt Foster.

Am

Race 1: Am saw the XONINE Racing team emerge victorious for the second time in as many weekends, although with its first 1-2 result. Anthony Bullock, in his No. 12 XONINE Racing, Lamborghini Chicago, Huracán broke through to end an elusive run awaiting a victory, his first since Race 2 at Watkins Glen in Am in 2024. Nick Groat was second in the similar No. 57 XONINE entry with David Staab third in the No. 48 Precision Performance Motorsports entry.

Race 2: Staab’s season-long consistency paid off with his first visit to the top step of the podium and fourth top-three finish in as many races in his No. 48 Precision Performance Motorsports, Lamborghini Palm Beach, Huracán. The win for Staab came as Bullock, poised for a weekend sweep, was stuck in the gravel in Turn 9 in the waning moments and lost the lead. It shifted the podium to Gabriel Holguin in a season-best second in his No. 45 PPM Huracán, with Johan Schwartz and Mike Fitzpatrick third in their No. 89 89x Motorsports entry.

LB Cup

Race 1: Philippe Touchette made a pass of Rocky T. Bolduc to secure his first win in the No. 11 TB Autosports, Lamborghini Montreal, Huracán. Bolduc, the Sebring Race 2 winner, scored his second straight podium in the No. 99 Topp Racing entry with Chris Tasca bouncing back from a tough Sebring and tough Friday in Monterey battling gearbox issues to podium in his No. 95 Forty7 Motorsports entry.

Race 2: LB Cup also saw a wild ride with each of the podium finishers taking a turn leading the class. Ultimately, Christopher Koebbe claimed his first win in the No. 66 Forty7 Motorsports, Lamborghini Philadelphia, Huracán. Teammate Tasca banked his second podium in as many days in the No. 95 Huracán with Bolduc completing the podium in the No. 99 Topp Racing Huracán.

Driver Quotes

Pro

Nick Persing (No. 1 Wayne Taylor Racing):  “To be honest, I think it was a great weekend overall. We managed to win Race 1. I went three for four at Laguna Seca over the past two years in race wins, so I'm happy about that. It was an unfortunate racing incident for us at the start of Race 2, but we recovered to P4. If my math is correct, we should be really close, if not leading in the championship right now. I'm happy to walk away from the weekend with that. I can't complain, taking home a win in Race 1 for my friends and family that are here.”

Hampus Ericsson (No. 1 Wayne Taylor Racing): “Starting third in both races wasn't ideal, but we hustled our way forward, especially in Race 1 where we took home the victory. In Race 2, Nick had a great start but contact in Turn 2 unfortunately dropped us to the back. We rose, showed our pace, and came back to fourth in class which was amazing - good points for the championship as well. I'm very happy with the weekend, and it's something to build on for Watkins Glen.”

Will Bamber (No. 33 XONINE Racing): “Speechless, really. We wanted to get one for the guys after a tough Saturday. It’s been a great weekend, even though Saturday was tough with a bad part. Darius did an amazing job, seventh to second before the pit stop put us in position to capitalize. We had a great test before the race; the first test day my mind was fried!” he added of his shift to XONINE. “But we gelled quickly, and we’re working together well as a team.”

Darius Trinka (No. 33 XONINE Racing): “The racing gods were in our favor today, for sure. It was a nice clean race. We knew we had the pace. I went forward and executed. It was tough coming from seventh overall, but we had some fire under us after what happened yesterday.”

ProAm

Danny Formal (No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing): “The car had way more than a P5 (in qualifying); I told Graham I’d make it up for him, and for him, he was a machine out there. It was so impressive to watch. Seeing his growth is impressive, particularly with his traffic management.”

Graham Doyle (No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing): “Pretty much a perfect weekend on our end. Once again Danny Formal proves why he’s the best in these things. He got us P2 overall today after he gave me a great car yesterday.”

Am

Anthony Bullock (No. 12 XONINE Racing): “It’s amazing to be back. It’s been a rough road back since Road America last year; it didn’t end well. To come back and still struggle at Sebring but then come out to see how much XONINE and Lamborghini came through for us.”

David Staab (No. 48 Precision Performance Motorsports): “This race, we knew we had a great car; we’d led practice one and two, but first qualifying couldn’t get a lap in. We finally got a good gap, showed the pace before the stop, and avoided mistakes when others had them.”

LB Cup

Philippe Touchette (No. 11 TB Autosports): “I guess I got pretty lucky. I think there was a pro behind us. Rocky maybe slowed a bit too much, and I took the opportunity to make the move.”

Christopher Koebbe (No. 66 Forty7 Motorsports): “It was definitely a tough weekend; I had no brakes in qualifying so I started last. But the Forty7 Motorsports team rallied so well.”
