Lamborghini Squadra Corse, the Motorsport division of Automobili Lamborghini, has renewed its partnership with UniBo Motorsport, the Formula Student team of University of Bologna.

During a soirée held at Museo Automobili Lamborghini on May 18, the young talents of UniBo Motorsport presented their Formula Student ICE prototype, the Integrale 636, to Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, Federico Foschini, Chief Marketing & Sales Officer, Umberto Tossini, Chief People, Culture & Organization Officer, to other Management Board members, to Maurizio Reggiani, Motorsport Vice President and to the "Pro Rettore per la Ricerca" of Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, Professor Alberto Credi, among many other guests. It’s the team’s first prototype with a full carbon monocoque, and achieved remarkable results during Formula Student competitions, such as the Overall Winner title in the CV category during Formula Student Spain in 2022.

The soirée has begun with a speech from Mr. Winkelmann, who said: "Lamborghini hasn't always been focused on Motorsport, but this year we're celebrating our 60th anniversary, and we can say that things have changed in the last 15 years. In 2009, with Giorgio Sanna and Maurizio Reggiani, we started the Super Trofeo championship and 10 years ago we created a company inside the company: Lamborghini Squadra Corse. Renewing our partnership with UniBo Motorsport who has lasted since 2017, makes theory and practice become one and makes young people come in contact with the company world, by giving them access to some of the most advanced technology". The partnership between Lamborghini Squadra Corse e UniBo Motorsport has become stronger and stronger during recent years, and for this reason the lamination of the new monocoque will be take place inside the Lamborghini factory.

Lamborghini's Chief People, Culture & Organization Officer Umberto Tossini commented: "The presentation of a new prototype is a great feeling, because it shows to everyone who supported and believed in your project the fruits of your labor. Over the years, we've seen this project evolving and welcoming more and more young students, who choose to become part of this team in order to link theory and practice, and to experiment with the job they would like to have once they've become adults, or just to understand more about their future career path, thanks to many Lamborghini employees' help, who share their experience with them. We're glad to support such a diverse team, in which the new generations, coming from different study backgrounds, have the opportunity to create their future path with more awareness, as well as enriching their own skill set, which will be useful once they'll enter the everchanging working world”.

The experience gained by being part in a Formula Student team helps many young students to become engineers and skilled professionals, and Automobili Lamborghini has always been assisting the growth of this project.

The Vice President of Motorsport Maurizio Reggiani, who has always been a great supporter of the project, noted that: "The University is the part of school that should equip young people with all the means needed to do their tasks in the right way, by teaching them everything they need to know before making a decision, in every possible context. What they are doing in the team, is the job for which they're studying, the reason they're working so hard. Teaching young people how to face the unforeseen and giving them the tools, they need to cope with it: Lamborghini has always taken this mission very seriously, and it's something that you can rarely learn in academia but happens very often in the manufacturing and in the racing world”.

The team designs, develops and assembles the racing vehicle in its entirety, and thanks to many partnerships, like the one with Lamborghini Squadra Corse, it improves every year, finding new technical solutions.

These are the words that the Magnifico Rettore of the University of Bologna had for the team: "The partnership with Automobili Lamborghini is a tangible example of academia and industry coming together to promote excellence, innovation and advanced research. Through this sturdy sponsorship, who has just received a pluriannual renewal, we will be able to develop new technologically advanced solutions, to contribute to a sustainable mobility, that is still full of excitement and performance. We can build a new space for our students, that will be able to face new technical challenges and put into practice everything they've learn behind the school desk”.

By remembering his own university path, Federico Foschini, Chief Marketing & Sales Officer has shown his support to the team: "During the last 25 years I've had the opportunity to experiment the big value of having synergy between University and companies. I got my degree in Bologna, in management engineering, and did my final thesis inside a company, that hosted me. That company was Lamborghini, and after my graduation they chose to keep me and here I am, after 25 years. This project is one of the best ways to enter into the professional world and to get to know the working world. Keep it up! It works both when you're a student and when you're an employer."

This summer UniBo Motorsport Team will take part in three Formula Student competitions starting on 12 July 2023 with Formula SAE Italy followed by Formula Student East and Formula Student Alpe Adria. Good Luck for the season!
