Lamborghini introduces official Esports 2023 drivers

21 April 2023

Lamborghini announces the renewed Automobili Lamborghini Esports Team in the SRO Esports championships.

The manufacturer from Sant'Agata Bolognese approaches the virtual racing season with a revamped and expanded line-up, which will compete at the wheel of the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 in the Assetto Corsa Competizione simulator.

2023 represents a new era for the Automobili Lamborghini Esports Team, with the aim of competing at the top of the world's biggest virtual motorsport events. During this season, with the collaboration of new team members, Lamborghini will compete against some of the world's best sim drivers in the three SRO Esports championships. These competitions are characterised by a high level of competitiveness and Lamborghini will participate while holding high its core values: to be authentic, to be brave, to be unexpected.

The Drivers
Lamborghini is therefore proud to welcome three highly established and successful drivers into the Automobili Lamborghini Esports Team: David Tonizza, Luca Losio and Danilo Santoro.

David Tonizza
Despite being only 21 years old, Tonizza has already scaled the peak of virtual motorsport during his career. In 2019 he became F1 Esports World Champion, as well as having achieved before and after numerous victories and titles in the GT World Challenge SRO Esports. Thanks to these successes, as well as having earned the characteristic nickname Tonzilla, David is rightfully considered one of the best virtual pilots in the world and, considering his young age, the Viterbo native has every opportunity to increase his experience, constantly improving his skills.

Luca Losio
Luca is only 17 years old and he has already made a name for himself the status of an emerging star in the sport, proving to be an important prospect thanks to his achievements over the past two years.

Losio, having started to distinguish himself at national level since he was 12 years old, went on to win the Italian Gran Turismo Esports Championship in March 2021. Luca then represented Italy at the prestigious FIA Motorsports Games held in September 2022 at the Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet. In the past season, he successfully claimed the ACI Endurance Championship title, alongside becoming champion in a highly competitive brand specific online championship.

Danilo Santoro
Luca Losio and David Tonizza will be joined by another Italian driver, Danilo Santoro. Much like his teammates, Danilo already has a respectable CV that has made him one of the stand-out stars of drivers on the Esports scene.
A proud roman, at 31 years old, Santoro is the most experienced of the three members of the Automobili Lamborghini Esports Team, an advantage that the driver will be looking to leverage. Danilo also owns a long list of victories in the Italian ACI GT3 Championship, in which he has been one of the most important drivers for several seasons. Santoro won the Italian Endurance 2022 title in addition to winning an important single brand competition.

The Championships
With such a strong technical team and driver line up in place for the coming season, the first outing of the new arrangement will take place this weekend, from April 21st to April 23rd, at the Autodromo Nazionale in Monza. On the track known around the world for the Grand Prix of Monza, the Automobili Lamborghini Esports Team will take part in the first round of the SRO Esports Sim Pro Series, the inaugural act of this new and eagerly awaited virtual competition. The series is set to feature the best sim racing teams and drivers as they travel through Europe as a permanent feature of the real-life Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS paddock this year, visiting such iconic venues as Circuit Paul Ricard, Spa-Francorchamps, the Nürburgring and the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Running alongside the real world series and esports race for GT World Challenge drivers, which puts championship points up for grabs, representing an unique feature in motorsport, the new SRO Esports Pro Series dedicated to professional Esports talent. It represents an exciting challenge that the Automobili Lamborghini Esports Team is looking forward to undertaking starting with the opening round on Sunday afternoon at the Fanatec Arena in Monza.

In addition to this championship, which will follow its real-life counterpart across Europe, Lamborghini Esports drivers will also participate in the Mobileye GT World Challenge Esports Europe Sprint Series with Tonizza and Losio and the Intercontinental GT Challenge Esports powered by Mobileye Endurance Series. All these competitions will use the Assetto Corsa Competizione simulation and the Automobili Lamborghini Esports Team drivers will race the new Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2.

For Monza, David Tonizza will virtually sit in car #63, Luca Losio in #19 and Danilo Santoro in #313. The first Italian event will be an important test for this new and exciting line-up full of talent.
