Stefano Domenicali has been named President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini as of 15 March 2016. He succeeds Stephan Winkelmann, who is leaving the House of Sant’Agata Bolognese to take over as CEO of quattro GmbH, AUDI AG’s high performance division.

“Over the past eleven years, Stephan Winkelmann has transformed Lamborghini into a global leader in the manufacture of super sports cars. His successor, who also possesses a wealth of experience in this area, will be continuing this success,” said Rupert Stadler, CEO of AUDI AG and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A.

Stefano Domenicali, born in Imola on 11 May 1965, earned a degree in Economics at the University of Bologna in 1991 and began his professional career in finance at Ferrari. In 1993, he took on the role of Head of Business Planning, and was also Director of Ferrari’s Mugello circuit, which belongs to the House of the Raging Bull. Starting in 1996, he oversaw the sponsorships for Scuderia Ferrari until being named Sporting Director of the F1 team in 1998. From 2004 to 2007, he headed the Direzione Sportiva F1 and was then named Team Principal of Scuderia Ferrari F1 in 2008, the year the team won the Constructor’s World Championship. From 2009 to 2014, Domenicali represented Ferrari in the F.I.A. World Motor Sport Council, of which he is still a member. He is currently President of the F.I.A. Single Seater Commission.
Domenicali has served as Vice President New Business Initiatives at Audi AG since November 2014.

Stefano Domenicali remarked, “I am very excited to be taking on the challenges of this great legacy, and I am committed to continuing the successes achieved by Lamborghini under the leadership of my predecessor, Stephan Winkelmann.”
