The first logo concept
The first badge to appear on a Lamborghini featured a white bull on a red background, and it was not intended for use on cars; instead, the vehicles were supposed to receive a custom white-and-red badge with a gold bull and lettering on a light blue background. Production difficulties due to the large number of colors caused them to arrive several months late. This is the reason why the first prototype displayed this “red” version for a short time. As soon as the right ones became available, the red-background badge was replaced and never used on the cars again.
A four-color logo, a complex idea
Soft, subtle colors, very much in the style of the 1960s, characterize the logo used on the first production cars. It is an extremely sought-after badge, featuring four colors—including gold for the bull—and the name "Lamborghini" in block letters, framed at the top. The bull, already in its characteristic stance as it prepares to charge, was rendered with greater graphic detail. It remains a complex process to produce, especially in terms of time, which is why new approaches are being explored.
Black and white, but we're not there yet
Another attempt, also short-lived, was in which the bull and the lettering remained the same as in the four-color version, but the background is black and white. You could sense the desire for change, but the pragmatic Ferruccio realized that this wasn't the right path. It was still too complicated and had too many details.
The Lamborghini logo is unveiled
It was still 1964, the first year of Lamborghini’s mass production, and here came the sports car Lamborghini had been hoping for: elegant, striking, and easy to manufacture. The golden bull was even more detailed, with more pronounced muscles, and was set against a black background. At the top, the letters forming "Lamborghini" were written in black capitals on a gold background. It is Lamborghini's iconic emblem, which has been in use for nearly 30 years and is featured on the Miura and Countach.
With the Diablo comes a new logo
January 21, 1990: Lamborghini unveiled the Diablo, the new 12-cylinder model tasked with the difficult challenge of replacing the Countach. Lamborghini gave it a new shield all its own: slightly larger than the previous one, it featured new colors—the background was blue, while the bull, now more muscular and detailed and still in a charging stance, was silver-gray, as was the slightly redesigned lettering.
The first logo designed by Lamborghini Centro Stile
With its acquisition by Audi, Lamborghini entered a new era marked by growth and success. The in-house Centro Stile was also established, and one of its first projects was to redesign the badge, which underwent a slight change in shape. The iconic color was back, featuring the bull meticulously rendered in gold against a black background. The font of the gold-colored "Lamborghini" lettering, applied directly to the black background, was also new.
A modern logo for the Lamborghini of today and tomorrow
It's called 3D. This is the logo that was unveiled in 2024 and will soon be featured on Lamborghinis. With a modern, minimalist design—featuring no raised elements and few details—it retains the bull in its classic position and uses a new font for the lettering at the top. Black dominates, while the gold—which is also present in the extremely thin frame—is very subtle.
