Change Racing’s Madison Snow claimed a pair of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America victories at the Michelin Raceway in Road Atlanta. Hot on his heels all weekend though was Precision Performance Racing’s Brandon Gdovic who ended up second in both races.

Thanks to his double success, Snow turned around a five-point deficit coming into the weekend and now leads US RaceTronics’ Steven Aghakhani and Jacob Eidson by 11 aheasd of the penultimate round of the season at Laguna Seca.

Race 1

Snow led essentially wire-to-wire on Saturday, though he had to hold on in dramatic fashion at the checkered flag. Driving the No. 16 Change Racing, Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO, Snow built a comfortable seven-second lead midway through the 50-minute race before backing off as a precaution and encountering lapped traffic. It allowed Gdovic in the No. 46 Precision Performance Motorsports to eliminate the deficit and produce a nail-biting finish.

Gdovic was hot on Snow’s tail on the final lap when they came upon a pair of lapped cars entering the closing corners and downhill stretch on the 12-turn, 2.54-mile permanent road course. Gdovic saw an opportunity to make a move for the lead as they exited Turn 12 onto the front straight, but Snow was able to make his car wide enough to hold on for the win by 0.206 seconds.

"It was a good race," Snow said after nabbing his second win of the season. "I started on pole, the best spot I could have to go, and then I had a clean track the first half of the race and was able to build a gap.

"Brandon was quick at the end, definitely quicker than me. Traffic wasn’t helping that. Coming down the hill (to the final turn and finish line), we had two lapped cars, so it was kind of throw it in and hope you get it. Thankfully, I had enough of a gap that I looked back, saw where he was and then I could lift (off the throttle) coming down the hill and kind of coasted across the line."

The No. 6 US RaceTronics, shared by Aghakhani and Eidson, entered the race with a five-point lead over Snow in the Pro class. Aghakhani, however, slid off track 10 minutes into the race and fell to 15th in the 16-car field. He and Eidson recovered to finish fifth overall and fourth in class, but it still allowed Snow to take an unofficial two-point lead into Race 2.

Leo Lamelas finished fourth overall and was the ProAm winner for the second time this season. Lamelas, in the No. 24 US RaceTronics entry, inherited the lead when McKay Snow had to pit with a mechanical issue in the No. 63 Change Racing Huracán just six minutes from the finish.

Lamelas took the checkered flag a lap ahead of the class runner-up, the No. 99 Ansa Motorsports driven by Danny Formal and Trick Madsen. With their fourth-place finish, McKay Snow and Corey Lewis saw their unofficial ProAm lead dwindle to three points over Lamelas.

Victor Gomez IV drove to his fifth win in as many outings in the Am class. The result came despite the No. 29 Change Racing suffering a punctured left-front tire less than five minutes from the conclusion.

Meanwhile, John Hennessy’s dream weekend continued in LB Cup. After securing the pole position for both races in Friday qualifying, Hennessy rolled to victory in Race 1 by nearly 12 seconds over Randy Sellari. Hennessy was ecstatic celebrating his first series win in victory lane.

Race 2

Change Racing came to race in the second half of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America doubleheader at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, fielding winners in all four classes Sunday. Among them was overall and Pro class victor Madison Snow, who completed a pivotal sweep of the two weekend races to vault into the championship lead.

Joining Snow as class champions Sunday for Change Racing was brother McKay Snow and Corey Lewis in ProAm, Victor Gomez IV in Am and Randy Sellari in LB Cup.

Driving the No. 16 Change Racing Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO, Madison Snow passed chief rival Aghkahani in the pole-sitting for the lead with 18 minutes remaining in Sunday’s 50-minute race. The No. 16 built a small cushion before the No. 6 spun entering Turn 1 on the final lap. Aghakhani eventually came to a stop on track for an 11th-place overall finish, fifth in class.

Gdovic finished second overall and in the Pro class for the second straight day. By doubling up in victories, Madison Snow turned a five-point deficit coming into the weekend into an 11-point lead over Aghakhani and teammate Eidson in the Pro standings after the third of five doubleheader rounds this season. Gdovic is 12 points out of the lead with four races remaining.

Turnabout was fair play in ProAm this weekend. A day after an on-track incident shattered hopes for a class win in the No. 63 Change Racing, Lewis and McKay Snow benefited on Sunday when Leo Lamelas suffered a puncture while leading with less than three minutes left in the race. Lewis zoomed past as the No. 63 collected its fourth ProAm win of 2020 and finished third overall. Ashton Harrison and Andrea Amici took second in ProAm in the No. 25 Prestige Performance with WTR, Lamborghini Paramus Huracán.

Lewis and McKay Snow retained the 11-point championship lead they held over Lamelas going into the weekend.

Lewis trimmed a seven-second deficit to one second when Lamelas slowed with the delaminating tire.

A day after enduring a flat tire of his own, Victor Gomez IV enjoyed a less eventful winning drive in the Am class. The driver of the No. 29 Change Racing, Lamborghini Charlotte Lamborghini Huracán continues to gauge his progress against drivers in other classes since he’s raced mainly without class competition this season.

In LB Cup, points leader Randy Sellari returned to winning form Sunday, a day after John Hennessy collected his first victory. Sellari (No. 03 Change Racing, Lamborghini Charlotte Lamborghini Huracán) trailed Hennessy (No. 33 US RaceTronics, Lamborghini San Diego Huracán) most of Sunday’s race on Michelin Raceway’s 2.54-mile circuit before a last-lap gamble.

Sellari leads the LB Cup standings by 19 points over Matt Dicken (No. 36 Change Racing, Lamborghini Charlotte Lamborghini Huracán) and by 21 over Hennessy.

Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America returns to action Oct. 30-Nov. 1 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The season wraps up at Sebring International Raceway from Nov. 11-13.
