Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Watkins Glen International 2025 Weekend Post-Race

23 6月 2025

A flurry of new winners headed to victory lane during the 2025 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America weekend at Watkins Glen International. TR3 Racing took both Pro wins to move into the Pro points lead, RAFA Racing won in both ProAm and LB Cup, and ANSA Motorsports (ProAm) and Forty7 Motorsports (LB Cup) also scored their first wins of the season. In fact, Wayne Taylor Racing (Am) was the only team that had previously won in 2025 that added more wins to their tally at Watkins Glen, part of IMSA’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen weekend.

Winning Lamborghini Dealers included Lamborghini Miami (TR3 Racing), Lamborghini Palm Beach (Wayne Taylor Racing), Lamborghini Orlando (ANSA Motorsports), Lamborghini Philadelphia (Forty7 Motorsports), Lamborghini Greenwich (RAFA Racing, LB Cup) and Lamborghini Austin (RAFA Racing, ProAm).

It was also a successful debut of the new Hankook L63H tire, which improved both grip and durability throughout the field.

TR3 Racing’s pair of Will Bamber and Elias De La Torre became the third different pairing to sweep a weekend in Pro, following on from Wayne Taylor Racing’s Danny Formal and Hampus Ericsson at Sebring and Nick Persing at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Nicky Hays delivered a thrilling late-race pass in Race 2 of ProAm for ANSA Motorsports to secure his and Antoine Comeau’s first race of the year.

RAFA Racing welcomed series newcomers Harry Gottsacker and Tyler Gonzalez to Lamborghini Super Trofeo and the two young guns won on debut in Race 1 of ProAm, while the team’s full-season LB Cup driver Rocky T. Bolduc broke through for his first win in Race 2 there.

Graham Doyle and Glenn McGee kept their form alive with a pair of Am wins for Wayne Taylor Racing. Mark Brummond added his first win of 2025 in LB Cup for Forty7 in Race 1.

Through Round 6, Bamber and De La Torre lead in Pro by eight points over Persing. Darius Trinka and Tadas Karlinskas along with Jason Hart and Conrad Geis are tied for the ProAm lead. McGee and Doyle have a healthy 26-point lead in Am over David Staab. In LB Cup, Brummond now leads Nick Groat by two points.

Pro
Race 1: The polesitting No. 29 TR3 Racing, Lamborghini Miami, Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo2, scored its first Pro and overall victory in the hands of Will Bamber and Elias De La Torre. It ends the run of four straight wins in the Pro class for the Wayne Taylor Racing team, which won the opening four races with two different cars.

The No. 29’s lead time in Pro only book-ended the race from the start into Turn 1 on the first lap to coming out of Turn 11 on the final trip around Watkins Glen’s 3.4-mile circuit, with the No. 1 Wayne Taylor Racing pair of Danny Formal and Hampus Ericsson having paced the proceedings the remainder of the race. Formal made an opening lap pass of Bamber around the outside into Turn 1 and proceeded to set sail, with Ericsson keeping the lead against De La Torre through the pit stop sequence.

However, the race turned on its head after a late-race restart when a series of short pit stop times were announced. The No. 1 car was one of the several cars affected, and Ericsson took the car into pit lane on the final turn of the final lap. That gave the No. 29 car a clear run to the checkered flag as De La Torre won by 1.802 seconds.

Forty7 Motorsports’ new Pro pair of Al Morey and Jake Walker, filling in for Keawn Tandon this weekend, finished a season-best second in the No. 77 Huracán with WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca double winner Nick Persing ending third in the No. 8 WTR Huracán.

Race 2: An early race caution put most of the second 50-minute race of the weekend under slow speed, with limited green-flag running before the pit stop window opened. De La Torre leapt out to a significant lead in the No. 29 TR3 Racing, Lamborghini Miami, Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo2 after the restart with the second-placed car having issues on the leap. After a smooth pit stop, Bamber controlled the remainder of the race to win by 7.936 seconds.

Of note, their perfect points weekend coupled with either inconsistency or issues for their rivals have unofficially propelled them into the Pro class championship lead.

World Speed Motorsports’ Scott Huffaker and Jaden Conwright (No. 22 Huracán) and ANSA Motorsports’ Enzo Geraci and Colin Queen (No. 4 Huracán) completed the podium. For the first time this season, Wayne Taylor Racing didn’t have a car on the Pro class podium.

ProAm
Race 1: RAFA Racing broke through for its first win in any Lamborghini Super Trofeo class this season, adding to its wins in the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge this season. RAFA’s new pair of Gottsacker and Gonzalez in the No. 81 RAFA Racing, Lamborghini Austin, Huracán led home the No. 67 TR3 Huracán of Conrad Geis and Jason Hart by 6.339 seconds. Flying Lizard Motorsports’ Andy Lee and Slade Stewart completed the podium in their No. 14 Huracán.

Race 2: ANSA’s fortunes improved even more so in ProAm, courtesy of a bold and decisive move from Nicky Hays in the waning moments. Hays, driving the No. 30 ANSA Motorsports, Lamborghini Orlando, Huracán he shared with Antoine Comeau, dove down the inside of the leading No. 14 Flying Lizard Motorsports Huracán of Slade Stewart at Turn 8. The late-braking maneuver was executed to perfection with Hays able to win by 2.411 seconds.
In their first race weekend with MLT Motorsports, the pairing of Darius Trinka and Tadas Karlinskas finished second in the No. 11 Huracán. TR3’s pair of Jason Hart and Conrad Geis in the No. 67 Huracán were third for their second podium of the weekend. The pink unicorn-liveried No. 14 car of Stewart and Andy Lee finished fourth after a setback, as contact from an Am class car at Turn 1 took them out of podium contention.

Am
Race 1: Anthony Bullock in his No. 12 ONE Motorsports Huracán was one of several cars affected by short pit stop penalties. McGee and Doyle benefited in Am, as they won their fourth race in five starts this season in the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing, Lamborghini Palm Beach, Huracán ahead of the RAFA Racing pair of Lindsay Brewer and Jem Hepworth in their No. 2 Huracán (scored their third podium of the season) by 5.142 seconds with Mateo Siderman third in his No. 63 TR3 Racing Huracán.

Race 2: In Am, the top two finishers from Friday came home in the same positions on Saturday. Again, a clean drive from the pair of Doyle and McGee in their No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing, Lamborghini Palm Beach, Huracán netted the victory by 8.516 seconds.

Jem Hepworth and Lindsay Brewer continued their strong form of late in the No. 2 RAFA Racing Huracán with their fourth podium in the last five races, and second straight runner-up result. Precision Performance Motorsports’ new pairing of Sebastian Carazo and Sean McAuliffe came home third in their No. 46 Huracán.

LB Cup
Race 1: A short pit stop penalty negated a potential first win for Rocky T. Bolduc. Mark Brummond returned to the top of LB Cup for the first time this season in a Forty7 Motorsports 1-2 finish. Driving the No. 52 Forty7 Motorsports, Lamborghini Philadelphia, Huracán, Brummond won by 1.533 seconds over Christopher Tasca in his No. 66 Huracán, with Bolduc third in the No. 99 Huracán.

Race 2: Scoring an emotional and popular first victory in LB Cup was Rocky T. Bolduc in the No. 99 RAFA Racing, Lamborghini Greenwich, Huracán. The Canadian driver made his debut at Watkins Glen International a year ago and adorned in a Bolduc Maple Farms-liveried entry, got to celebrate with his family and coach Corey Lewis in victory lane, overcome with joy after a bounce back race from a lost win Friday to win his class Saturday by 8.163 seconds. Tom Capizzi (No. 49 Forte Racing Huracán) and Friday winner Mark Brummond (No. 52 Forty7 Motorsports Huracán) completed the LB Cup podium.

Quotes:
Pro
Will Bamber (No. 29 TR3 Racing): “For me it just goes down to this team, TR3 and everybody involved in the organization have been working so hard. This young kid here has got a huge future. He's absolutely killed the start and restart too (today). For us starting out this year, we worked together so well; I was his engineer last year, which is pretty cool. And now we're driving together, so very special for us. We're just going from strength to strength.”

Elias De La Torre (No. 29 TR3 Racing): “Thankfully, the start was good, the restart was even better, and Will was able to bring it home. We’ve had great consistent driving; we’ve kept pace and managed it well. We still have three race weekends to go and to focus on, lots to build on, but I think we have the team to do it.”

ProAm
Tyler Gonzalez (No. 81 RAFA Racing): “I've always wanted to drive one of these Super Trofeo Huracáns. They're so fast and just can't thank Kevin Conway and RAFA for giving me this opportunity to hop in one of these cars. The first time in it was practice yesterday morning, and I took to it pretty well.”

Nicky Hays (No. 30 ANSA Motorsports): “I knew he wasn’t going to make it easy, so I had to outsmart him. I just went for it. We’re going for checkers or wreckers. We’re not here to finish second. We’re here to win.”

Darius Trinka (No. 11 MLT Motorsports): “Absolutely a good result (in Race 2). We’re working the guys into MLT and we’re still keeping the core group of mechanics and engineers. Adapting is quite easy.”

Am
Graham Doyle (No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing): “Perfect weekend for everyone on the 10 car. Glenn had a mega start from P2 to pass for the lead right away. We had a long yellow, but then he handed me a perfect car to go from there.”

Jem Hepworth (No. 2 RAFA Racing): “Not quite the top steps, but it’s another happy day. (Lindsay and I) are getting closer to getting that win. We've got good championship points as we can and we're gonna track them down, we're coming down halfway through the season. Our plan is to win next time round.”

LB Cup
Mark Brummond (No. 52 Forty7 Motorsports): “I was in fifth going into the last lap and I just sent it on the inside of the esses. Some people got tangled up or had penalties and I went around them.”

Rocky T. Bolduc (No. 99 RAFA Racing): “It’s the one-year anniversary of my debut. Look at my beautiful family here, my wife, my kids, who came to support me. It was my first ever racing season. I’ve got no words. My wife says it best, ‘Every setback has a comeback!’”
