Lamborghini secures IMSA Endurance Cup GTD Manufactures title at Petit Le Mans

19 10月 2020

Lamborghini celebrated its first Michelin Endurance Cup Manufacturers title in the IMSA GT Daytona class thanks to a podium finish in the prestigious Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.

The #44 GRT Team Magnus partnership of John Potter, Andy Lally and Spencer Pumpelly secured a well-earned third place in the 10-hour race, finishing just over three seconds off the class win. The Michelin Endurance Cup Manufacturers title is decided by the combined results of all the teams representing the various brands in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, placing emphasis on consistency across all crews.

Lamborghini kicked off the somewhat disrupted 2020 season with a dominant one-two at the 24 Hours of Daytona in January, with the #48 Paul Miller Racing team of Andrea Caldarelli, Corey Lewis, Bryan Sellers and Madison Snow taking victory from the GRT Magnus Huracán GT3 Evo of Lally, Potter, Pumpelly and Marco Mapelli. The #48 then went on to secure a podium finish in the 6 Hours of Road Atlanta in September, extending the lead in the Endurance Cup to eight points.

With only one round of the championship still remaining, both the Paul Miller Racing #48 and and the GRT Magnus #44 crews are also in contention for the Drivers’ and Teams’ titles. The Michelin Endurance Cup field return to action on November 11-14 for the 12 Hours of Sebring “grand finale”.
