Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia makes its debut at China’s 4.010km Ningbo International Speedway when round two roars into gear from May 22-24. The battles for the PRO, PRO-AM, AM and Lamborghini Cup titles resume at the tricky, 22-corner track following an electrifying season-opener in Malaysia last month, with a number of exciting newcomers joining the fray in China.

Having made a thunderous return to Asian motorsport in Malaysia, reigning Super Trofeo Europe champions Vincenzo Sospiri Racing (VSR) lead the way, with its exciting young-gun duo of New Zealand’s Liam Sceats and Polish talent Gustaw Wisniewski topping the PRO leaderboard having taken an overall victory at Sepang International Circuit. The pair, who have a combined age of just 38, may have youth on their side, but will face tough competition in China.

A late call-up for William Tregurtha from Batmobile Racing team principal Kumar Prabakaran shattered predictions ahead of the season start. Tregurtha, just 26-years-of-age, proved a revelation, making an eye-catching Asian debut and racing solo. Turning the timing sectors purple as he topped both free practice sessions and secured two pole positions, the young Briton went on to take the PRO victory in race one and a class podium in the second encounter of the weekend. 

Tregurtha heads to another unfamiliar track for round two, but this time his potent talent will be further sharpened by the addition of German-born Monegasque ace Jonathan Cecotto, who joins him at Batmobile Racing. No stranger to Lamborghini Super Trofeo, having excelled in the European, North American and Asian editions, Cecotto makes a welcome return to the series, where he and Tregurtha will be keen to usurp rivals Sceats and Wisniewski from the top of the PRO leaderboard.

However, the PRO ranks include yet more razor-sharp talent in the form of Lamborghini Bundang by Racegraph’s Peter Li Zhicong of China and 21-year-old reigning Formula Regional Americas champion Titus Sherlock. The pair bounced back from an unlucky DNF in the first race of the season to take an overall podium in race two, second in class. Li and Sherlock arrive in Ningbo determined maximize their points haul, and erase their points deficit.

While the up-and-coming talent of the PRO entries may have grabbed early attention, the first outright victory of the year went to two-time Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia champion Chris van der Drift and PRO-AM team mate Todd Kingsford in the second VSR Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2. The pair looked masterful as the season got underway, following their race one success with another PRO-AM win, second overall, to complete VSR’s dominance of round one.

The seasoned and successful New Zealander and his impressive Australian team mate will face formidable PRO-AM competition from the second entry from the burgeoning Batmobile Racing squad. Reigning Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe champion, 20-year-old Adam Putera, teams up with long-time Asian Lamborghini Cup campaigner and fellow Malaysian Kumar Prabakaran. 

In the AM class, KAM LUNG Racing’s solo driver Bertram Lau leads the way after two races. Lau currently has a ten-point advantage over rival Suttiluck Buncharoen after the True Visions Motorsports Thailand driver endured a dramatic end to his first race of the season following an on-track incident. However, the two-time AM championship-winning Thai bounced back with characteristic determination to seize the race two win having started both races from pole.

Four-time Lamborghini Cup champion Supachai Weeraborwornpong stormed into the 2026 season on blistering form, clinching both class pole positions and victories in Malaysia. The Siamgas Corse driver now has a twenty-point advantage on the class leaderboard over Lamborghini Bundang by Racegraph’s Gerard Goh and Terence Tse. 

Taking the place of Steven Chian and Kim Sangho in Ningbo at Lamborghini Busan by Racegraph is Chinese driver Liu Zexuan. Liu has campaigned successfully in GTs and junior single seaters across Asia, having started his motorsport career at age 26.

Ningbo International Speedway, located south of Shanghai in East China’s Zhejiang province, opened in summer 2017 and has hosted world touring cars, GT, TCR, LMP and junior single seater events. 

Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia round two gets underway with two, hour-long official practice sessions on Friday, May 22. Qualifying begins at 10:20 local time on Saturday, with two, 15-minute sessions setting the grids for each race. Race one follows at 14:55, with the second 50-minute getting underway at 11:15 on Sunday, May 24 (all times UTC+8).
