2017 was an extraordinary and exciting year for Automobili Lamborghini, with new models, revolutionary ideas, and goals achieved.
From the Huracán Performante, which redefined the concept of super sports car, raising performance to levels never seen before, to the Aventador S Roadster, in which the technologies and driving dynamics of the Aventador S are combined with the excitement of open-air driving, and on to the Urus, the world’s first Super Sport Utility Vehicle, which has made possible the impossible: Lamborghini continues to surprise in terms of design, performance, driving dynamics and emotion.
The Lamborghini Huracán Performante showed its incredible abilities even prior to its official unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show, achieving a significant goal for a series car on Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit (6:52.01 min). The Performante has been also awarded the Innovation Award 2017 by the UK’s Autocar magazine, for its important technological innovation elements.
In the month of September, Lamborghini Squadra Corse unveiled the new Huracán Super Trofeo EVO in a world premiere, further raising the standards of the previous model thanks to a completely redesigned aerodynamics. The Super Trofeo EVO will debut on the track in the three continental series of Europe, Asia and North America starting in the spring of 2018.
Not only new models but also revolutionary ideas: on the occasion of the “EmTech MIT Conference” held in Boston in November, Automobili Lamborghini unveiled “Terzo Millennio”, a visionary concept that imagines the design and technology of the future through a possible Lamborghini electric super sports car. This design concept was the result of a prestigious collaboration with MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Many important goals and objectives were reached in this incredible year. Just to name a few:
The significant expansion of the Automobili Lamborghini production site in Sant’Agata Bolognese, from 80,000 to 160,000 square meters, in view of the market launch of its third model, the world’s first Super Sport Utility Vehicle: Urus. Within the new area, an office building was also inaugurated, which achieved the highest score in Italy (92 points) in LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certification, the highest standard in the world for energy and environmental certification in construction.
2017 was also the year in which the new Lamborghini Polo Storico at the Sant’Agata Bolognese headquarters was inaugurated. It is dedicated to the classic Lamborghini cars and to preserving the company’s prestigious historical heritage.
New Showrooms were also opened around the world that have grown the sales network: from Japan to Italy, from Russia to the United Arab Emirates - Dubai now boasts the largest Lamborghini Showroom in the world -, and from China to North America, each and every detail was designed to welcome customers to the world of Lamborghini.
Many lifestyle events were also organized around the world to offer customers a unique and exclusive experience in perfect Lamborghini style.
In the month of November, the first Lamborghini Lounge was inaugurated in the elegant Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City, an intimate and luxurious space designed to promote key events and offer customers exclusive contact with the brand.
2017 was the year of #SinceWeMadeItPossible. After all, making the impossible possible is part of Lamborghini’s DNA, and with the recent launch of the Lamborghini Urus a new era begins.
