Focus on the future via newly-announced 2026 Super Trofeo Junior drivers

Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia heads to South Korea’s Inje Speedium for round four of the 2026 season from July 16 to 18, where all eyes will be on the newly-announced trio of Super Trofeo Junior drivers. Affectionately dubbed the ‘Spa-Francorchamps of Asia’, due to its sweeping layout and significant elevation changes, the 3.908km track presents a new set of challenges to Vincenzo Sospiri Racing’s Liam Sceats and Gustaw Wisniewski, and their fellow Super Trofeo Junior Titus Sherlock of Lamborghini Bundang by Racegraph.

The three drivers are among 17 selected for the 2026 Super Trofeo Junior Drivers programme this season, part of the wider Lamborghini Squadra Corse Young Driver Program initiative, now in its 13th year. Eighteen-year-old Pole Wisniewski and New Zealand VSR team mate Sceats, 20, lie second on the PRO leaderboard heading to Korea, while 21-year-old Sherlock is fourth alongside team mate Peter Li Zhicong of China.

When they arrive in the mountains of Inje County, the ambitious young trio will set out to beat  Batmobile Racing’s William Tregurtha. The Briton, himself just 26-years-of-age, tops the PRO leaderboard having earned a 20-point advantage. Tregurtha made an eye-catching Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia debut with a solo PRO victory and podium at the season-opener in Malaysia. Since teaming up with Monegasque star Jonathan Cecotto in round two, the pair has dominated, taking four consecutive outright race victories across China’s Ningbo International Circuit and Fuji Speedway in Japan.

The magic created by the inspired new Batmobile Racing driver pairing means Cecotto, also 26, is fast climbing the PRO leaderboard, closing in on his rivals. Despite missing out on the opening round, Cecotto now sits just seven points adrift of Sceats and Wisniewski and his experience of Inje Speedium, where he took a win and a podium in 2025 with team mate Gavin Huang, could well give him an edge.

Joining the PRO ranks in Korea and making his Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia debut is another young gun, 23-year-old American talent Barrett Wolfe. Former F4 US Championship podium finisher Wolfe will race solo for Lamborghini Busan by Racegraph at the team’s home event. Expanding his motorsport horizons with his Asian debut, Wolfe is contesting the 2026 Formula Regional Americas Championship this season, having locked horns with the likes of current Racing Bulls F1 talent Arvid Lindblad during his 2025 Formula Regional Oceania Championship campaign.

A burning question ahead of the series’ arrival in Korea is whether VSR’s electrifying PRO-AM pairing of Chris van der Drift and Todd Kingsford can continue their dominance of the category and extend their unbroken run of victories.

Storming into their debut season together in Malaysia, the pair firmly laid down the gauntlet to their rivals with an outright victory in the opening race. With a perfect score of six PRO-AM wins in six races, New Zealander van der Drift and Thailand-based Todd have amassed a 49-point lead in the championship standings.

However, Inje’s ‘Spa-Francorchamps’ moniker is well deserved, and its challenging configuration, combined with the potentially-changeable weather conditions of the mountainous terrain, could bring an upset to the form book. Second in the PRO-AM standings is Batmobile Racing’s Malaysian pairing of Putera Mu’azzam and Kumar Prabakaran, who joined the series from China. Since then, the new line-up has achieved an unbroken run of PRO-AM podiums.

Korean team SQDA-GRIT Motorsport enters local drivers Yoon Jeon and Kevin Lee on a PRO-AM line-up for its home event. Yoon joined the series in Fuji, racing alongside Umar Abdullah, the pair taking two AM podium finishes together.

The AM title battle resumes between the two solo drivers, True Visions Motorsports Thailand’s Suttiluck Buncharoen and KAM LUNG Racing’s Bertram Lau. Since his season-opening race setback in Malaysia, Buncharoen has only gone from strength-to-strength, bouncing back with a podium in race two at Sepang, before galloping into a four-race AM winning streak across China and Japan, taking two impressive top-five overall finishes along the way. However, rival Lau has kept his eyes firmly on the prize, maintaining Buncharoen firmly in his sights, his points deficit just 18 after six hard-fought races.

Likewise, Buncharoen’s fellow Thai, Supachai Weeraborwornpong of Siamgas Corse, has had his class dominance interrupted only once so far this season. However, the multiple and reigning Lamborghini Cup champion faces stiff for the crown in the form of Lamborghini Bundang by Racegraph’s Gerald Goh and Terence Tse, second in the standings and 16 points behind, and the Lamborghini Busan by Racegraph duo of Steven Chian and Kim Sangho.

Opened in 2013, Inje Speedium is located 120km east of South Korea’s capital Seoul. The dramatic and undulating layout, which resembles a seahorse, features 20 turns and presents drivers with multiple challenges, making it both mentally and physically demanding.

Round four gets underway with two hour-long free practice sessions on Thursday, 16 July. Two 15-minute qualifying sessions start at 10:50am local on Friday, with race one roaring off the grid at 15:45. The second 50-minute race starts at 14:40 on Saturday, 18 July (all times UTC+9).
