Lamborghini World Final: over 60 Huracán on track at Imola

The fifth edition of the Lamborghini World Final is about to start. The most important event of the Lamborghini one-make series will be returning to Italy from 16 to 19 November, at the historic circuit of Imola. After Vallelunga, Sepang (Malaysia), Sebring (Florida, USA) and Valencia (Spain), Imola will be hosting all the international protagonists of the one-make series for Huracán Super Trofeos.

The week will come alive from Thursday, November 16 and Friday, November 17, with the sixth and last double round of the three series Europe, Asia and North America  of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo. Eight races will complete an extremely rich program, topped off by the World Final rounds on Saturday and Sunday.

On the 4.9 kilometers of the Italian track, there will be over 60 cars at the start and nearly a hundred drivers on track to offer once again a “no stop” show, starting from the challenge of the three continental series.

During the previous round at the Nürburgring, only the AM title was mathematically assigned to the Polish crew of VS Racing formed by Andrej Lewandowski and Teodor Myszkowski, therefore the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe will announce the champions of the remaining three classes at Imola.

In the PRO category, there is a maximum of 32 points still in play and the first four drivers are gathered in only 12 points. At the top of the standings is the Italian-Canadian duo of Antonelli Motorsport formed by Loris Spinelli and Mikaël Grenier, who scored two wins in Germany and have so far taken five victories out of ten races. Three points behind them are Jonathan Cecotto and Vito Postiglione, who have won three races with the colors of Imperiale Racing. Seven points from the top of the ranking are instead Rik Breukers and Axcil Jefferies, title winners of the Middle East series with GDL Racing earlier this year and authors of two victories in the European championship. Five points behind them are Raphael Abbate and Yuki Nemoto, who are looking for their first success with VS Racing.

The games are still open in the PRO-AM. Ahead of everyone are  Liang Jiatong and Christopher Dreyspring (VS Racing), with two wins to their credit and 108 points. Just one more than Kikko Galbiati, who celebrated his third victory with his co-driver Gianluca Giraudi at the Nürburgring. Five points from the top are Shota Abkhazava and Kelvin Snoeks, who have scored two wins with Artline Team Georgia. There is still some hope also for Niels Lagrange and Pieter Vanneste (Leipert Motorsport).

In the Lamborghini Cup, the standings leader Gerard Van Der Horst and William Van Deyzen, both racing with the team Van Der Horst Motorsport, will be fighting for primacy. The two drivers are 16 points apart and immediately behind them is the Colombian Juan Perez (also racing in the North America series), who, after skipping the first two rounds at Monza and Silverstone, has scored five wins in a row with Antonelli Motorsport.

Everything has already been decided in the PRO class of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia, in which the Italian-Japanese Kei Cozzolino and the Malaysian Afiq Yazid became mathematically champions during the penultimate round at Shanghai. The duo of Clazzio Racing definitely closed the games after scoring the eighth victory of the season. Nothing to do for the Pole Artur Janosz and the Englishman Toby Sowery, both very young and at their debut in the series. The two drivers have been constantly in evidence with the team Lazarus and scored their first overall victory in China. The situation is similar in the AM, which saw the Indonesian Andrew Haryanto conquer the title with three races in advance.

In the PRO-AM, the duo of GDL Racing formed by the Hong Kong driver Nigel Farmer and the nineteen-year-old Dutchman Rik Breukers is one step away from getting the title. Their opponents,  Maxx Ebenal and Mikko Eskelinen (Leipert) have a gap of 29 points and therefore few chances of winning.

In the Lamborghini Cup, the Thai Supachai Weeraborwornpong (Top Speed Racing Team) is leading the standings and currently has a 28-point advantage over the Italian driver of Petri Corse, Gabriele Murroni.

There will be a great fight in the three main classes of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America, starting with the PRO, in which the Italian Riccardo Agostini and his co-driver Trent Hindman obtained the maximum number of five victories with the team Prestige Performance/Paramus and are therefore leading the standings with an advantage of 28 points over Richard Antinucci (Change Racing). The latter, instead, dominated the first part of the championship and won the first three races at COTA and  Watkins Glen.

There is another Italian at the top of the PRO-AM ranking, Edoardo Piscopo and his co-driver Taylor Proto (US RaceTronics/Beverly Hills) are leading by only one point from the eighteen-year-old Austin Versteeg, who has been a real revelation and has already scored seven victories during his first season behind the wheel of the Huracán Super Trofeo of Change Racing/Carolinas.

In the AM, the drivers fighting for the title will be three. Thanks to the victories scored at Laguna Seca, the Japanese Yuki Harata (Dream Racing Motorsport/Las Vegas) has collected five wins and is now leading the standings. On the eve of this final round, Harata is 12 points ahead of the Canadian Emmanuel Anassis (DAC Motorsports/Palm Beach) and has a 15-point advantage over the Californian Brian Thienes (US RaceTronics/Beverly Hills).

Lastly, the fight for the championship is practically over in the Lamborghini Cup, which sees Juan Perez firmly in the lead. On this occasion, the driver will be racing for Antonelli Motorsport (the same team with which he is taking part in the European series) and will be supported by Lamborghini Palm Beach.

The event will kick off on Thursday with free practice and qualifying sessions of the three continental series. The two 50-minute races of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe will instead take place on Friday (at 11:15 a.m. and at 3:20 p.m.). The races of the Asia and North America series are scheduled on the same day (at 9.25 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. respectively) and will have a common starting grid. The warm-up, the World Final qualifying and Race 1 of the classes AM/Lamborghini Cup (at 1.20 p.m.) and PRO/PRO-AM (at 3:30 p.m.) will be held on Saturday. Race 2 is instead scheduled on Sunday at 10:20 a.m. (AM/Lamborghini Cup) and at 2:00 p.m. (PRO/PRO-AM) and will mark the end of the entire event.
