Following its debut last February, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East has been reconfirmed for 2018, alongside the three long-standing continental series of Europe, Asia, and North America.
The formula of the single-brand championship will be the same as the 2017 edition: three double rounds, all in the United Arab Emirates. The inaugural round is scheduled for February 2-3 on the 5,554 meters of the Yas Marina circuit, which since 2009 has also hosted the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix. Following a two-week break, on February 16-17 the competition moves to the Dubai Autodrome, which will also host the conclusive race on March 2-3.
The race format of the weekends will also remain unchanged, mirroring the other three continental championships: two one-hour free practice sessions, two 20-minute qualifying sessions, and the two customary 50-minute races, with rolling start and mandatory pit stops. The class composition will also be the same, divided into PRO, PRO-AM, AM, and Lamborghini Cup.
The fourth single-brand championship open only to Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo cars is therefore on tap again, adding another championship of reference and a level playing field for the engagement of drivers and teams in Europe, Asia, and North America. It provides an opportunity to return to the track a couple of months ahead of the start of the three major series, following the short winter break that will follow the fifth edition of the World Final to be held in November in Imola.
