Automobili Lamborghini sponsors the new Fiamme Oro athletes' uniform
Rome/Sant’Agata Bolognese, October 13, 2014 - The signing ceremony for the sponsorship agreement between Automobili Lamborghini and Fiamme Oro (the sports association of the Italian State Police) was held today in the conference room at the External Relations and Protocol Office of the Public Security Department in Rome. The event was attended by Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A., Alessandro Pansa, Chief of Police, Francesco Montini, Head of the Fiamme Oro Sports Division, and two athletes: Martina Grimaldi (Olympic bronze medalist at London 2012, World Champion at Barcelona 2013, and European Champion at Berlin 2014), and Roberto Cammarelle (super heavyweight boxer, Olympic Champion at the Beijing 2008 games, and World Amateur Champion in 2007 and 2009).
Under the agreement, Automobili Lamborghini becomes the technical sponsor of Fiamme Oro for the next two years, supplying complete pre- and post-competition outfits. The new uniform comprises a tracksuit, polo shirt, jacket, cap and sports bag, in both summer and winter versions, in the official blue and crimson colors of Fiamme Oro. It was designed by Collezione Automobili Lamborghini, the clothing and accessory line of the Sant’Agata Bolognese firm, with the logos of both Lamborghini and Fiamme Oro included on all items.
Sponsorship of Fiamme Oro is an extension of the partnership between Lamborghini and the Italian State Police which started back in 2004 with the donation of the first Gallardo to the police force for community support, such as the transport of organs, and for public security purposes. The partnership was renewed this year in May with the delivery of the fifth Lamborghini Polizia, the Huracán LP 610-4, currently assigned to the Highway Police.
"Our close relationship with public institutions and our firm commitment to social and ethical responsibility are strengthened today by this agreement with Fiamme Oro. It’s a sponsorship agreement aimed at bringing together the excellence of the Lamborghini brand with the excellence of Fiamme Oro athletes, ambassadors for Italy around the world. Italian sport is an asset to the country and should be promoted. We have a very strong group of athletes whose sporting achievements raise the prestige of our country and spread an important message: from commitment comes excellence. Just like Lamborghini has been doing for more than 50 years with state-of-the-art cars in terms of design and technological innovation,” stated Stephan Winkelmann.
The Chief of Police Alessandro Pansa underlined the winning relationship between the State Police and Lamborghini. ”Fiamme Oro and Lamborghini represent a commitment that will soon see our athletes attaining prestigious new goals, supporting the State Police’s obligation to spread the values of legality also through sport; we are proud to contribute to supporting talented young people that enhance our nation’s prestige with their sporting results."
Fiamme Oro, the Italian State Police sports division, was established in 1954 with the agreement between the Ministry of the Interior and C.O.N.I., the Italian National Olympic Committee. The group's mission is to maintain and promote sporting activities on a competitive level, including among young people, in order to increase Italy's national sporting heritage. To achieve this, Fiamme Oro is dedicated to training high-profile athletes across 40 sporting disciplines played at 9 national centers. Since its foundation, Fiamme Oro athletes have racked up an enviable list of sporting achievements: in total they have won 78 Olympic medals, 247 world titles, 254 European titles, and 4725 Italian national titles.
